New engine what's that smell

Not sure what spent synthetic 2 stroke oil smells like, I'm old so my last 2 strokes were 1970s, they all got bean oil and smelled nothing like this. Unless I smell something else this stuff smells like burning plastic. Only about 5 miles on the new engine. I know new parts give off smell when initially heated up, but plastic smell? I got this synthetic blend because I don't have access to ethanol free gas and it's supposed to have additives to address ethanol.
Also I have to say I don't really see the need for synthetic in a 2 stroke engine. I use it in my truck but that oil only gets changed every 5k to
7k miles but in a 2 stroke the oil is constantly replaced so break down is not an issue. Wheres the advantages?

I have been reading this forum for a while and a few of the posts I have read say use regular 2 stroke oil for about 3 tanks and if you want then switch to synthetic.
