Howzit Everyone,
The Whizzer kickstand was designed so the Whizzer Bike wants to rests on the rear wheel. I didn't like this.
I always had to lean the bike forward before starting,
There are many more reasons why I didn't want the bike to rest on the rear wheel while the bike was running sitting on the kickstand.
I cut and modified my kickstand so the bike wants to rests on the front wheel. I also think it makes the bike look better when parked.
I'll explain how I modified my kickstand.
Kickstand Modification
New Gen Whizzer will want to rest on front wheel with kickstand down.
Lean bike to the rear and bike will rest on the rear wheel.
1) Cut a 1/4" to 3/16" notch with a grinder.
Cut where kickstand is marked with blue tape. (see pictures)
Cut only back and sides of kickstand. Do not cut through U portion or front of kickstand.
2) After cutting - Bend gap closed.
3) Tack weld it. ( If you don't own a welder. Ask your local welding shop to tack weld it.)
4) Mount kickstand on bike and check how bike rests. Bike should want to rest on front wheel.
The U portion (feet) of kickstand should be a few degrees* from plumb towards the rear of bike.
5) Remove kickstand. Finish welding ( Tig welding is best) Your local welding shop should only charge $20 It's a very small job.
6) Tape off area. Paint black. Clear coat.
7) Mount kickstand on bike and your done.
I suggest to replace the stock rubber pad.
Use a thicker stronger rubber pad.
Must use 2 pieces of rubber pad. One under the crank and one where the mounting bolts are.
Drill holes in the rubber pad for the kickstand mounting bolts.
I used corded rubber pad and I had to score (cut) one side of the pad to be able to bend it. (see picture)
One more thing that's good to do is to weld or use a piece of 1/8" Steel plate on bottom of kickstand where the mounting bolts are.
Kickstands likes to bend here.
