New guy that knows nothing.

I found this in the forums regarding points and spark plug gap for an H model…Points Gap .012" - .015" S/P Gap .023" - .025". I think the engine I have is a J model, are the specs the same? I need to find a shop manual.
Just for giggles, when you have time, take some 400 grit sand paper and clean the points contacts with it and then see if your spark comes back. A cheap match book cover will act as a close enough feeler gauge to set a baseline that will get you running. Dont mess with the points gap right off the bat, see if you get spark first. I dont know anything about whizzers but I do know classic motorcycles and cars very well. Could also help out some if you decide to convert to electronic pickup, just ask if you like.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I have spark. As soon as I finish the restoration of the ‘71 Norton that I’m working on, I’m going to take the Whizzer apart for a nice refresh. I’m just looking for a service manual so I’ll have all the numbers. And, I probably will convert to an electronic ignition. Any recommendations on that?

One thing about points, make sure the plastic piece that rides on the cam isn't wore down so they won't open. That's why a lil grease on the cam is important.

They make cam lube that is specific for distributor type ignition systems that doesn't fling off like common grease, you can usually find it at almost any autoparts store.

Anyone have any recommendations on brand of electronic ignition? I’m partial to Boyer for my vintage motorcycles

I’m going to add a couple of images and I hope someone can help me identify these setting screws on the carb. Both are needles and both are in good condition, but I don’t know what they’re for or what the initial setting should be. Any help would be appreciated.
