New here. Bought a phantom 85v3

The problem with the phantom is it will tear apart anything short of what I've built. It'll rip a rear wheel to shreds on a rag joint, especially on off-road. Off road and a stiff chassis bicycle don't mix. You'll probably want ti at least use a motorcycle rear wheel for off-road with the phantom, but that makes it difficult to ride.

But... It will probably fit in the Ridgeland just fine.
So order a firestorm 100 instead? Phantom is too strong for bicycle wheels

I am currently waiting the arrival of the menace 85 smolick proformace I've heard good things about it ... Do you have any experience with the Menace
Not with the Menace, but plenty of experience with Ethan Smolik which led to his being forever banned from this forum as well as pulling his trusted vendor credentials.

He was also banned from a Facebook Phantom 85 forum run as admin by my sidekick moderator on this forum @ImpulseRocket.

All the engines are too powerful for bicycle wheels, especially offroading. The torque on the spokes combined with the impacts will destroy a wheel. But the zeda 100 is much more forgiving.

But if you want cheap fun quickly, order a 49mm iron bore from eBay

Yeah, I won't do business with the smoliks. Hey @Motorized T you should post your own thread so you don't highjack this one

Both of the bikes you want to off road with use a rear freewheel. The freewheel was replaced with the cassette on higher end bikes because freewheel axles are prone to bending.

If it works and rides I’m happy. This isn’t some form of daily use. I’m gonna ride it in the fields up and down my street and to the park down the street. I’m interested in building something more fitting for the phantom. But for now I think if I can install it and ride it a couple times then install it in something better that’s a win. 🥇

Looking for steel frame mtb on fb. Near Baton Rouge. Decent budget but not in a rush to spend hundreds on a science project. This is a south Louisiana backwoods poor person cruiser. Will eventually work through all the crap and have it on a decent platform.

Got the cnc mount coming in the mail. If I like how it sits on grey it runs. If not I’ll fit it on blue and try that while I look for a steel bike or a beach cruiser.

I'm going to assume you're a lot younger than me. At my age I have to take high precautions to avoid crashes. A simple drop such as going from a curbside to the asphalt is enough to bend a stock freewheel axle. You really should avoid riding through fields.

If you're insistent on doing it at least go to a bicycle shop and get an inexpnsive cro-molly axle. Even then avoid any large bumps at moderate speeds (15+ mph).
