Hey everyone, Happy New Year! I was all excited about converting my bike into a gas engine. Until I looked the laws up in NY state. and...... I'm bummed out. I reached out to local authorities waiting to hear back on what they say I can or can't do. We'll see.
Some good info on the forums.

Welcome to the forum. NY seems to be one of the worst states for MAB's, if I were you I'd go electric. Consequences are too serious for a MAB from what's posted.

Boo. That stinks. From reading the nystate law, wouldn't electric be the same? It's still considered a "motor"

Yes but federal law basically made it untouchable to certain degrees, like they can't call it a moped if it's an electric bike ect ect..

It's sad that New York won't even allow anyone to drive a moped on the street. You would think they would be interested in reducing auto traffic. What is wrong with them?

It really is. Our gun laws are just as bad. If my wife and I didn't have kids we would have left a long time ago. Once they are done with highschool, I think it's time to say good riddance.
