Engine with a reed valve? If so, yes good carb and a commonly used one for that setup.
Piston port engine not so much, you would have to port it accordingly and use a good pipe.

You should never drill that hole in the body, that is an air bleed circuit it does not feed the pilot jet, the pilot jet meters the fuel pulled from the bowl. The correct size pilot jet along with the air screw gets the idle setting.

What size pilot did you try? They do idle very well when setup right and with the power jet make tuning it very precise!
That passage you drilled just means now you need an even bigger pilot jet to get it to idle properly, if it even will now and the transition to the needle will be off requiring it to rev up some before it will even go.

I was thinking about getting one of those pkw21 carbs are they any good??

I run one, and haven't had any issues except having to tear it down and clean it once in the last 2 years. Runs like a champ with my minarelli

I have a pwk 21 with a g2 reed. I ended up going to a Oko 19 on the same reed
