Old Tension Bracket which way goes witch?

not proper bolts but Wich plate goes to the inside long one or short one?
Clearance very short from spokes have my fears.
 
Agree with Spare_Parts. Situate it so that the nylon wheel lines up with your chain best.
 
I had good luck with that stock tensioner, but I adjusted it often and my engine was stock.
 
Same here, that's the part of a HT kit I've never had problems with, hilariously enough. It works fine if it's treated like an idler and not a tensioner. It usually needs a slight twist in the bracket to match chainstay angle relative to chain run. Put a spring on it if you want a tensioner. Ofc it's great if you don't need the thing at all.

I never use them anymore.
