Onyx 29 inch with 79cc Predator

I picked up an Onyx cheap, rode it down the block, and decided it needed a motor, and I needed something to kill some time with this winter. I've been tinkering with it for a couple of months, I'm in no hurry, a few hours a day figuring out what works and what doesn't, and way to much time standing in the isles of Ace Hardware, lol.
The start of the project.

I reworked the clamping points on the exhaust replacing the aluminum clamp with one made from copper, a couple of pictures of the two 45 degree joints with a sleeve in between before clamping, the fit over the kit muffler stub is perfect. The steel bracket coming off the valve cover has just enough spring to put a slight downward pressure holding the upper assembly tight, the clamp is cut to the full width of the joint and fastened to the valve cover bracket, giving you a solid base to fix the down pipe.

No clamp, valve cover bracket visible.

The big question is will it work, I don't see why it wouldn't, I'm getting eager to find out, it really seems to tuck the exhaust in out of the way.

I have been trying to stain the engine castings, going for a slightly used crusty look over the cheap shiny china mystery metal look.:)

I pretty much did the same at the bottom, the long down pipe is free floating, copper clamp to a steel bracket.

That's it for now, I'm working on incorporating a vintage potato masher and silver serving spoon into the air cleaner door next.

And you thought I was kidding about the potato masher, spoon, brass cup air cleaner.;)

I ussed the spoon handle as a bracket for my brake light, license tag.

Played with engine cowl colors, red was to much, so I used the hammered copper laying it on fairly heavy on the back piece and a light coat on the outside pull start to give a little contrast to the two pieces.

The 45/70 choke handle added 1 HP!
I figure the bike is in the 30HP range now, with all the speed modifications.

The license tag cant reach the spokes, and is attached to a fairly heavy plate so it shouldn't blow around to much, if it does I will move it, this thing is starting to look like a have cabin fever.o_O

I made a funky little heat shield for the elbow area of the exhaust, and installed all of the drive chains.

I also installed the headlight, I used a 1930s Star Lantern RR Signal light, and covered all the metal brackets in leather.

I'm not seeing a need for the chain tensioner there was enough adjustment in the clutch plate to take out the slack in the drive chain, and no clearance issues that I can see.
