Outlawing Motorized scooters in SF

It looks like they are pretty much outlawing electric scooters in San Francisco. Only the wealthiest people will be able to use one. As far as I know the new law will not effect motorized bicycles or mopeds.

Wow Tyler this is sad news if it’s for real. Please provide a link to where you saw this new law outlawing electric scooters in SF. Also did it say what is the cutoff point as far as wealth goes, where a person will still be able to ride their electric scooter?

Me and the little lady like taking our e-scooters over to the city to ride in the summer months. Our salaries (combined) are fairly substantial so I hoping we’re still legally allowed to ride this year.

Spare Parts is correct. After looking at the law it just affects ride-share scooter businesses and not private ownership. It seems tons of scooter ride share companies have opened up that have been flooding the city streets of SF with scooters causing problems. I was confused when the article said "there would be no more than 2,500 scooters in San Francisco at any one time." This, of course is not really correct, there would only be 2,500 rented scooters at one time. However, this makes me wonder when they will start cracking down on private owners using public roadways in San Francisco.

Oh I see, so there’s no ban on electric scooters it’s just the city shaking down the 3 share scooter companies for money.

$5,000 for a permit application fee and another $25,000 for a permit, ouch!

Looks like they also amended a dumping ordinance to include the share scooters being parked or dumped on the sidewalks all over the city.

I suspect that the scooters have cut riders on the public transportation in SF, they spent millions on the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) and they don't like scooters giving people a different option other than using it.
