Hey all, I seen somewhere on the forum where a guy painted his red engine cover on his GX35.

I'm looking to do the same, what's the proper way to paint these plastic covers that get warm?

Light sanding? Primer/heat resistant paint? Can anyone suggest some products to use for this little project?

Thanks!

I think you can find plastic compatible paint in a rattle can. You wouldn't have to sand it, just make sure it's clean. Why did I think they had a metal cover?

Sweet, so maybe just clean with soap, and dry thoroughly and hit it with a coat of compatible paint?

Well I went to Autozone today and picked up some paint. I think it turned out good.

I usually discard that plastic and the heat shields. They look like an engine afterwards instead of a leaf blower. The plastics and heat shield provide some cooling so you need the engine moving for cooling afterwards. I’ll have to find a picture on my PC.

I freaking love my setup. 200+ miles on it already. Top speed at my weight is 26mph. I'm like 50 lbs overweight, I bet if I dropped the weight I could pick up a few more mph. I got some Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires on the way, and a pletscher double kickstand. Then think my build will be complete.

Have you ridden a bike with a suspension fork on it yet? You know what they say, well, you don't go back lol.
I haven't. I want one though. My bike at times can be unforgiving. Rigid fork and alum frame, plus a bit aggressive positioning. This is the bike I want. Suspension fork, seatpost, and more upright.
