What's the next best penetratng oil after Kroil. I cannot afford postage fees from the US to the UK and Kroil is
n't supplied in the UK so that's out. I'm looking for one which is supplied in the UK please yet not necessarily made there (UK)

Most penetrating oil is the same cheap stuff from pound land or whatever will do , Halfords stuff is ok gt 85 I think its called but basically all the same really

Fair enough- I'll just stick to WD40 and GT85 then (I have GT85 but I've never actually used it and bought it ages ago when I didn't really know much about mechanicing anything so up to now didn't know it was a penetrant- just chucked away in a cupboard)

Look for "PB Blast". Highly recommended. BTW, WD-40 is a lubricant and not a penetrating oil - really doesn't help much on rusted up seized hardware.

wd-40 is actually a water displacer as its main use but its not a lubricant , it has many uses and works as a penetrating oil if left for 24hrs , but thats a secondary use so anything that has a primary use as pentrating oil will be better lots of things work as crassius mentions you can make your own.

nothing i've ever used for freeing rusted parts has worked better than heat though. just my input

I recently discovered ~WD40 is magic for making grungy stainless steel a thing of beauty. Gives it a lovely lustre.

it is good for cleaning grunge etc but ideally you should use a metal polish to leave a protective coat on it , i usually use "peek" polish but most stainless polishes will be better than wd 40 in the long run.
