So since SoCal is coming up and I need another engine besides either my piaggio or lc minarelli to cruise around on, I decided to throw together a decent phantom build. Got a pair of second hand engines to fuse into on, aka a phantom v3 and a malice 85. Going to throw in this fat crank from a cmb dominator along with fresh bearings, seals and probably weld up a cdh jog pipe converted to side bleed and adjustable end bleed.

Well thanks to a friend, i now own a malice 85. Decent price too. Even came with the sticker.

Fat crank, new bearing and viton seals in. Need to port this and get a Smolik head for it. Slap in a 272 xp single ring piston with a caber ring for true rpm build

I don't like the single ring pistons. The ring gap always is dead center of the port.
I like the single rings. More power, more rpm. They’ve never failed in my experience. I even run them in my cast iron minarellis or my Puch moped. Sure they have less compression than the mutiple ring ones, but the benefits are better.

When I built my avenger the ring gap of the stock piston is in the intake port and I could see where it had snagged a few times already. Thankfully there was no significant damage to the cylinder wall. Just the edges of the port. With a proper chamfer it should be fine. Do you plan to port the cylinder?
