Hey guys so I'm still working on my first build and I'm pretty much done. The only problem is that I cannot get a spark to save my life. I've used an OHM meter to test every electrical component from the magneto to the boot to the CDI, ETC. I even took apart the magnet and realized I didn't have a woodruff key in there, so I took care of that I got one and put it in there. I even went as far as buying a whole new magneto and CDI. And still the spark will not get going. I would really appreciate any and all help that you guys can give me.

Thank you for your time

Can the magnet for ignition be put on backwards? I'm new to 2 stroke, so I'm learning too. Bet there's someone on here will get it figured out.

How do you know you aren't getting any spark?

With kill switch on and the plug removed, clamp the plug down to where it'll ground out. Put the plug wire on it. Have someone hold the rear wheel off of the ground. Then turn the crank. Provided you have a good plug you should see a spark.

Put the whole electrical system back together, squirt a little 2 cycle mix in the throat of the carb and pedal it around in circle and let out the clutch, you'll probably get a couple pop pops.

It's a hard chore checking for spark without a bike stand, and it's easy to make one from a pallet.

I currently have the bike upside down, with no kill switch I pedal by hand on the bike while holding the plug to the cylinder head bolts

So I don't have the switch connected at all. I'm confused what you mean by clamp the plug down and have it grounded out. I apologize this is my first build. Kinda new to the lingo and motors in general
