Harbor freight has a killer promo on right now. A 5ah battery and charger for 80 bucks and you get your pick of a free tool. I took this as an opportunity to get their Dremel tool, and picked up some bits.

Not bad. If all you wanted was a flex shaft style tool the Wen rotary tool with the flex shaft is about 30 bucks. No batteries for other tool options down the road, but simple, powerful, and it works.
Degree wheel and some single and double cut burrs are all good investments as well.
