Problem getting fuel into HS 142F

Having a problem getting fuel into my HS 142F with the gravity fed carb. Purchased the 94oz tank and had it mounted on the drive channel. Gas didn't flow unless gas was filled to the cap. Raised it higher by mounting the tank on a rear rack. Still the same problem. Have one fuel line attached to the carb and the other one is tied off. Fuel only flows when the gas cap is loose, even though it appears to be vented. I'm doing something wrong and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your tank is meant for a pumper style carb w/a diaphragm. You need a fuel tank where the feed comes out of the bottom of the tank. Also the tank needs to be higher than the carb for gravity to feed it. You can get a factory tank and mounting hardware from thatsdax.com or other sites but might pay more. Factory tank is only 1.25 litres.
