Purposes of plate behind magneto

I’d like to see a picture as well, none of the earlier engines had a plate. I replaced two seals in a 2010 grubee before rebuilding it with better crank bearings.

Yeah none of my cdh has that plate, like they missed that step in the assembly line.

All mine have that plate. The engine in first pick was one I blew up long ago. Only one I blew up. Lol. Was a cheapie, even most the cheapies have that plate now. Must have got a line where they were tired. The plates not needed, but it does help keep the oil seal in.

Yeah I've seen 2-3 engines blow that seal out because there's no plate there. I guess I'll make some & install them.
