Question about 3rd transfer

So from my understanding if I have a 3rd transfer then I don't have to have a reed valve with a windowed piston.
Am I right???

You would want a reed valve and windowed piston in order for the boost port to function properly. The intake charge needs to be pushed through that port in order to function. In theory it could be done without if using a very well tuned pipe, but it will have a very limited RPM range where it functions properly and potentially have running issues elsewhere. I would want a properly designed pipe either way if trying to run a boost port, as the whole idea is to help increase high rpm power.
