Question: Shortening The Throttle Cable - Disassembly Of The Cable Components At The Throttle End (Short video contains the question and details)

Buy a "5mm ID" tube. Cut you a piece a little longer than the piece you are making ( end piece of the cable, measure it's width) and then make a notch about half way down one side, the size of the cable. Then take the cable and fray a tiny bit of the end, toss it in the tube you made. the frayed part. It will hold the piece you are about to make. Now grab some split shot weights from the ol' tackle box, melt them in a spoon with a torch or whatever. I have a lead pot and ladle. Pour it in and tap it with a screw driver or something to get the air bubbles out. let it cool for a few mins, then take a small punch and tap it out. then sand it a bit to clean it up. boom, no one will ever know you didn't buy a professionally made cable.

edit: a pair of needle nose vicegrip pliers will help you hold the tube still while trying to pour molten metal in the hole. it also helps to preheat the tube just a little before pouring the lead into it.
