Just finished the Columbia Liberator build and I'm experiencing random clutch slippage. It happens a couple of times for just a second and only on hard acceleration. Clutch seems to work fine otherwise. Any thoughts? This is a new motor with less than 10 miles on it.

agree, I've seen some new pads so different in thickness that only three or four were grabbing initially - often just purposely slipping clutch at speed will wear down the high ones quickly

My clutch plate came with a thin coating of paint all over it.. presumably to prevent rust.
I'm sure that would have gone straight onto the pads and left a glaze that would need to burn off..
So I cleaned it off just the friction surface with carb cleaner, and gave the friction surface a good scratch with a file. No slips yet. :)
