I will soon be measuring cylinder bore/piston for fit, crankshaft journal, etc., to determine what/if anything needs to be machined for oversized parts.
Questions: 1. Where can I buy a new big crankshaft ball bearing, like the one on one side of crankshaft---the needle bearing on opposite end is good. Also need the oil seal on that end of big ball bearing too. 2. New new valve guides, too, preferably brass---your opinion of brass? I guess Whizzers never used oil seals at top of guides, as they do on automobile engines, right? 3. Need New valves. Should I use original vintage small, valves, or should I put in newer larger dia. valves? Are valve stems all the same diameter, inake/exhaust, vintage/new? 4. Early engines used safety wires to wire in connecting rod bolts, but should I now use locktight instead? 5. Are cylinder head bolt washers anything special, or can they be any thickness washers I can find---engine came with no head bolts washers. Should I use standard head bolts, or should I install larger diameter ones? Where can I buy a good used cheap magneto coil and housing? How about an exhaust manifold (finned elbow?) Thanks
