Reduced Noise Mechanisms other than expensive muffler?

grease your gears to get rid of noise from the clutch side, and put a section of high temp rubber tubing on the end of your current pipe. the longer the tube the more noise reduction

you can put a shroud around the air filter to reduce intake noise
