Ricktor's build

My build... Maybe its not your cup of tea or maybe it doesn't fit the term motorized bike anymore but here it is. I started with a wave frame. Its a frame from TSP cycles in Italy. Really light weight. tig'd and a steel frame.

I was going to get fat tires and run them in the frame but had a blowout on my old 80cc and figured i wanted something more robust so I started looking for scooter rims which led to dirt bike rims... I eventually settled on some 2014 CBR 1000RR rims. I got 2 front rims as they are pretty narrow and might need a little massaging to fit in the frame

I started thinking about brakes for this build and got some little pit bike rotors but it would of been too hard to make them fit so I just started looking for some rotors that would fit my rim... I found some cheep china knock offs that fit

It was at this point I was starting to realize that I was going to go all out on this project and that I would likely have to fabricate alot of parts so I dove in. here is is mocked up sitting on some blocks. The front rim doesn't fit in the forks nor does the rear so I decided to get a rolling chassis first.

I cut the rear frame and made some inserts to widen the rear and I was still unsure of how I was going to tackle the front. I fabricated the seat brackets and tig'd the new spacers into the rear frame and was pleased how it came out

Next I decided to tackle the gas tank. I made a template that copied the frame hole and set to fabricating

I fabricated the rear axle and made some spacers to center the rim in the frame so I could permanently install the rear brake mounting hardware.

I figured that the front forks that came with the bike would not be adequate so I started searching ebay for a set of used motorcycle front forks. Everyone that had good forks was asking a fortune for them but eventually I found a set of a k1000 for 75 bucks that looked to be in good condition. I ordered a bearing kit for that bike and started fabricating upper and lower bearing cups for the races.

At this point I'm pretty pleased with myself. I still need to fabricate the top of the triple tree and think of an engine to stick in.
