Riding That Friction Thing in the rain !!!

try it first with my other THING !!!

I don't (really) want to step on anyone's toes here,
but to be a true cyclist (motor or pedal) you must EMBRACE bad weather.

You must, must, MUST!

A cheap rainsuit will get you through a lot of garbage weather.

Since you do want to slow down quite a bit in bad weather, it would seem as though the slippage issue with FDs is not as serious as it might seem on the surface.

Now repeat after me:

"Bring it on, Mother Nature... You won't stop me!"

ok bluegoatwoods

I think I got this THING

Bring it on, Mother Nature... You won't stop me
the only time that Iam stopping in the rain
is if I need to pull over and pee

it's going to take some work -- I admit
some practice tonight
going to bed with my rain coat on
try it first with my other THING !!!

ride that THING

Hey bluegoatwoods,
Being a newbie I was wondering ... is there some kind of special tool we should carry to help pry a cheap rain suit out of the frictioin drive?! Oooops ... my mistake ... you said "rain suit" ... I was thinking "poncho" ... probably the wrong choice for MB-ing !?! lol

Yup, you're right mikem; ponchos are not the way to go on a bicycle.

But you can get a laugh or two out of watching someone else try. :)

I haven't even ridden in the rains -- since that last wonder job of being soaked

but -- I got my bicycle rain gear now

well -- kind of -- do need a front fender still
that water coming up straight into my face was rather amazing

at least with these high quality water proof pants and jacket
my special mountain valley area in the rear end -- should stay dry
that seems to be the main THING area

MM

I got soaked in continuous rain five miles from home, riding "The Iron Dragon". The front engine friction drive was useless, so I turned that engine off...

and used the rear engine chain drive to slowly and safely motor home...on the sidewalk.

beats noTHING

The front engine friction drive was useless, so I turned that engine off...

that's what I am thinking

my friction drive seems to do next to noTHING when wet

I am sure that a different tire may improve this a little

bottom line -- going to be super slow in the rain

always beats noTHING as I ride that thing
