Risky's 2008 Ambassador II Whizzer Rebuild

So, the modified starter is working fine. First try for 5 minutes was no go. Let it cool down and recharged my $50 LiPo 230 CCA battery. Realized that maybe my compression release was not releasing... cable is too short and was losing compression in the spirit of trying to off load the burdon of the starter motor. Took the cable off and released the compression relief completely. Voila! Engine started... but can't seem to keep it running.... tried incrementally changing the mix screw..

Need Help. Not an engine guy.. four stroke or two stroke. Left the clip at factory... don't ask me where it is as I have not taken it apart. Seemed to stay running with choke on, but very high revs. Will take the top off tomorrow and see where the clip is and perhaps change it one way or the other.

Help!!??

Post a couple of pictures one of each side of the carb. We'll give you some adjustments to get you started. Did you clean out the carb?

Thanks... brand new carb. Installed right from box. Got it running today with air mix screw (bottom left) almost all the way in and lots of choke to start. Racing to 3500-4000 rpm... hard to slow it down with screws. Prior to getting it running today I moved the needle clip to second from top. It was near middle bottom stock when I was trying to run it yesterday. Yesterday I had it idling with air mix screw at 1.5 turns but not increase in when accelerating the throttle. Only when I choked it yesterday at idle it would race. Today that is all it seems to do is race with choke off and screw almost all the way in. Here are the pictures of this cheap 22mm carb. Taking a brake to cool down the starter motor and charge the battery for the second time today... Thanks for the input

It will run with the mixture screw all the way in? Sounds to me I would look at the jetting.

To me it sounds as the pilot jet is too big.

Got it running for several minutes at 2000 rpm... juggled the choke and screws, but it it not right. Going to take the carb off and look at the jets and see what they are

Knowing this is a new top end on this engine and never run, should I be seeing smoke coming out of the carburetor after it is running for a few minutes and when I shut it down? With air cleaner off, Yesterday with brief runs, I noticed puffs coming out of the air cleaner side of the carb. But today, is was hard to tell where the smoke was from but near the intake for sure.. and some smell.....??

Is the smoke coming out of the intake while it is running?

Yes a new rebuilt engine will smoke some till everything seats/breaks in.

Yes, there is smoke while it is running. When it quits, I see it for sure coming out the back end of the carb...
After you get your carb all sorted out. Also I would like to know, as sure as others what jets are in that new carb.

Also when you get time, could you post a short video of it running. I would like to see & hear it running if all possible.

The other thing I was going to mention, that bike being a CVT type Trans. It will more than likely have a fairly high idle speed.

Thanks.

All of the secondary CVT stuff is disconnected while I get the engine running.

Thanks... video and carb info tomorrow. Will also check the valve lash with carb off set it before engine install
