Running 1 Piston Ring

Running a single ring is fine if your using a piston/ring meant for it,I wouldn't do it with a stock ring the end gap is way too big.Break in is heat cycles not mileage, you can fully break in an engine in 10 miles or less if you idle it and then just do a few pulls let it cool and repeat 5 more times.

I have run one ring with the Airsil/Jog piston witch needs to be modified to do so and to me is kinda expensive. MZ has a low pin piston in 48 mm bore that is meant for their sleeved cylinder and they now have a ceramic not chromed 48 mm bore cast cylinder in witch I use the above piston with 1 mm thick rings. This gives half the resistance over stock 2 mm rings and they have proper end gaps.
