Hi all just build a new one and the engine is running very rich. I have adjusted the needle to it's leanest setting and it is still far to rich. any ideas?

Thanks
Simon

If you remove the air filter and that corrects the problem then you need to find another filter that is less restrictive.

also check that your float setting is correct. The higher the gas level in the float, the richer it runs.

I rarely try to tune one that is new. I'll lean out the needle to get a decent idle, but leave all else alone till I've got a couple hundred miles on the motor to get the rings seated. These thing usually lean out a bit on their own once the rings get seated. When you get to 200 or 300 miles, then you can start tuning.
