rusty.western.flyer Now on the pipe!

Hello,

This is my second motorized bike build, the first was a Dolomite fat tire, but it was stolen. Grr, guess they needed it more than me. Have to dig for pic of that one, but anywho....

Just installed a China girl on the Western Flyer Newsboy Special....

Oh, no, he didn't ride with! Just set him in the basket for a photo op hehe. He would jump out and chase the first squirrel, and probably run over. Him and his brother had a sibling that was run over when the rescue was trying to help mom and pups off "dead dog alley" :(
Make the crate into a dog box, tie a tee shirt around the bottom of the crate, sew up the neck and let the dogs stick their heads through the arm holes.

Thanks! Only a couple blood blisters from hammering. I don't have a bead roller. The chain snapped the other day when trying to start it. Never had that happen, only master links pop out (the old bike had a pressed on 410 chain).

Anywho, got impatient when measuring out the pie cuts, then realized the stock header has a good bend for my bike. It's not tapered on the chrome part, but it seem,s to have worked well. Need to get the stinger made/installed, sand the chrome off the header so it will patina, and want to put a baffle on it, he's a bit loud. Was gonna roll the 13mm stinger, but there's a metal store very close, might just see if they have any ~1/2" tubing in the scrap bin.

BUT....Rusty had his PB MPH today! Almost 37mph. The Dolomite would do ~34 with the 26x4" (tall ie good for top speed), so I feel this thing has gotta be making more power. Felt like it had more, but you know how unbalanced these things are. I balanced the hybrid motor in the youtube link, it was smooth as silk in the upper RPM. Need a new case for the other bottom end, I pulled the head stud threads right out of it when presing on a carb adapter. :(

Wow, looking at those pics again made me realized rusty needs some new shoes! Got some Hookworm in the shopping cart, but with the kiddoes and the holidays here, gotta keep the spending low. I have another set of used tires from a pedal bike in the shop. Actually have a pile of bikes I saved from the kids growing up. Have a few BMX's (20"), two aluminum suspension bikes (29 and 26"), a beach cruiser (26") and two classic style mountain/10sp's (24 & 26"). Figure some day will make some kind of contraption(s). The BMX's would be good bases to make drift trikes with china girls on them hehe.
