Just to clarify numbers, by a non scrubber rider: There is difference between calculating rim-to-tire speed difference than calculating gear ratio between drive and driven gears. (Cog numbers are non issue.)

As to the gearing discussion, simple ratios as noted on How Things Work link earlier, shown twice, are correctly stated and used to determine driven gear revolutions.

Two gears offer ratios, proportional to size increase of driven or drive gear size changes, given drive gear speed as constant. Very simple.

It seems it is the drive or driven part that seems to get us confused...I have mild dyslexia, so I know about such confusion.

Regardless, the How Thing Work site is good physics and should dictate one's drive spindle choices.
