Simple, (kinda) Cheap, Light Idea

As people have gathered, I am in the process of measuring the output power of the magneto. Though I still am getting incredibly high voltages (20+V), I'm not sure how much power the device produces. But let's say, for the sake of discussion, it pops out 3W.

Well, I just thought of a great solution. Buy a 3W LED flashlight, ($15-$60) and a 3.3V regulator ($15 http://www.dimensionengineering.com/DE-SW033.htm) plus a cheapo diode bridge + capacitor $5. Now, no matter how fast you run the bike, this 3.3V regulator will spit out 3.3V at high efficiency (80%-90%.)

Any input? Would people spend this kind of money? I think it costs ~ the same as getting a SLA battery and a tractor light (which I read about on some other post) but puts out a lot less light.. on the other hand, it needs no charging.

It swings wildly +20V, and then -30V -40V? It doesn't look like a nice pulse. Oscilloscope readings were taken between the white wire and the bike's frame.
