I'm an old retired aircraft mechanic so I don't mind some tinkering. This kit seems to have everything I want. I know myself. First I'm gonna want an exhaust, then porting, blah blah. Ya know the story. Might as well pay a little and get it all in one shot. I'll be bolting it to my long time pal the comfort bike. This is the kit: Smolik Kit Going to get an upgraded clutch too. Any reason I shouldn't? Thank you!

I can think of many, many, reasons to NOT deal with either of the Smolik's...lol...My moderator "partner in crime" @ImpulseRocket has also had dealings with them on his own Facebook Phantom 85 forum as well.

This should get you started in the meanwhile...lol.

You can also look up "Smolik" under "Search Forums"

You would be very familiar with 7075 T-6 aluminum then...lol...I made some custom pieces for my bike out of that stuff I was able to get from the local AFB as well as White Sands Missile Testing center...lol.

I made a custom front motor mount and a rear disk brake caliper adapter to the frame.

And my bike as it presently looks right now from this pic at the end of April this year...The bike is now 5 years old since I built it and I ride it almost daily during all of that time...Thousands of miles on it...lol.

The pipe isn't ideal. You'd be better off building an engine like I am (chop top Phantom 85 with alot of extra goodies). If not, then just get a menace kit or the phantom v4 and order an aftermarket head for it and find an 85cc dirt bike pipe.

Don't mistake SP for RDM. Ryan Darragh (rdm) is a scumbag who is still taking orders while his machines sit in storage. Early on Ethan Smolik worked for Ryan but he left and started hus own company. They are no longer affiliated.

The forum has a pack mentality and is quick to believe made up stories. Go on Facebook and check reviews in various groups. How many people on this post has actually bought something from SP?

If you find any guys that side with them, they're racer guys and won't tell you bout the 2 years that they waited for their :poop:
Everyone who disagrees gets banned on threatened with a ban by the admins and mods. I have. I was told I'm not even allowed to mention their names.

The pipe cracking at the flange is relatively common. That could be caused by either a manufacturing defect, improper installation or a combination of the two. That's really the only problem I see besides inexperienced builders who don't know how to tune a carb.
