spark plug won't fire unless I'm touching it

His body provided enough ground.
On the older mags the ground tab is soldered to the engine here.

I'm having this same problem as well. When I am touching the spark plug directly, it gives me a little shock, but I can see that there's a good spark jumping across the gap. Weird huh?

LoL your electrical connections aren't connected correctly,.... blue on Green, black on yellow. It isn't grounding out on your bike it's not grounded correctly. Check your connections.
The electrical current created off magneto is not enough to cause any harm to you.

You are a man right? why are you afraid of getting shocked. If you're getting shocked and it's still not starting. Check your carburetor. Clean your carburetor. Now try starting it again press the button till fuel comes out of air filter.
