Can the little 23 cc engine be set up for direct drive without a clutch so that it starts when you pedal and shuts down when you stop?

R/S makes two engines in the EHO series, 25 and 35 cc. The 35cc is the more commonly used but I have known a couple of people who use the smaller motor.

I imagine you can set them up without a clutch. I haven't done it with a Robin but have a Mitsubishi 43cc direct drive. The shoes are removed and a steel plate needs to be fashioned and bolted in place of the shoes with a drive shaft fixed onto the center on the plate. I know of no after market parts available though so that leaves making your own.

Contact Dimension Edge online. They offer their engines like how you want them to run.

Not sure of the shaft size, but if you remove the clutch, you can thread on
on a textured aluminum bike foot peg,( see ebay),to the shaft. these are
3/8" i.d., 26 thread. if shaft is 1/4" , snip a small piece of sheet alum., roll
it around a screw driver, and insert into the peg as a bushing and thread it
onto the shaft,( pop can aluminum works.) To mount your eng. see my
