'The Beast' Reborn

The weatherman lied! I'm developing webbed feet, and the bottom bracket
of my stationary bike has worn out a 13,000 miles. A bad case of parawatuk,
(Eskimo for cabin fever). has rendered me a dangerous berserker liable to maim
anything with a passing resemblance to a meteorologist!!!:34:

Darwin,
Thanks...
And if you hear of anymore great deals out there....please let me know.
I'm always on the lookout myself, but you definitely have a knack for it

Update:
Got sick of treading water. Went out and fired up the Tanaka. Good thing
it's wet or I'd have cooked my tire. It was kind of a ***** to start the first time,
but understandable as it's been parked under cover out in the cold. I was starting
to think I might have been ripped off when it finally kicked over. HOLY SMOKELESS
MOTHER of PEARL!! The specs say 2.2hp, same as my Hua Shucks. If the Tanaka
is 2.2 hp, then my Who Stunk is runnin' on half a cylinder. It's Awesome! I can't
imagine a performance carb on one of these. I hit 30 mph at 1/2 throttle and had
to go home and change my britches.
It is a mite loud tho, wish there was a way to tame it down a bit without tampering
with the factory engineering. Suggestions?:D

Yeah,
That 40cc Tanaka is one fine piece of engineering & gets even better once broken in.
I found the stock canister muffler to be louder than both aftermarket mufflers I've purchased.
I ran it with a pocketbike expansion chamber & a stock china girl muffler (poo-poo pipe).
The china girl muffler is super quiet and makes more power than the small loud restrictive catalyst muffler. I recommend it & I only had to drill slightly larger holes on the header of the pipe to fit perfectly.

Well.
I hate to tamper with the catalyst, but I really need to tone
her down a notch. The poo pipe seems a good option, and I
think I can make a viable cat. conv. for it using the mesh from a gold plated
coffee filter fitted into the header.
I'm a bit short of funds this time of year; got any ideas where to find the
cheapest pipe?

Yeah,
That looks like what I'll do. I went back to your pic of the Banshee
and noticed the pipe appears to be wrapped in glass tape(?) I have
some and will likely wrap mine as well. I've been hesitant to deal
with BFG i.e. (LEB), but I trust your advice.

THX

LEB has never done me wrong...In fact I receive my orders faster than from most eBay sellers.
One thing I recommend when mounting the pipe is to add some sort of cross brace to minimize loosening of the screws holding on the pipe.

sounds like good advice, I think I've something that'll work.
I'm a bit curious about the spring & it's function.?

Rawly,
I wanted tension always pulling on the levered arm brace.
There is alot of vibration at the header & in the past has loosened my exhaust pipe.
Not good on a long trip.
Since I've done this mod, it hasn't been a problem. I got a handlebar clamp around the pipe that the arm is bolted to.
