Does anyone have any ideas how to mount a new engine onto a bike whose frame is too wide for the front bracket? The rear bracket (vertical post is fine). I was thinking of a larger U Bolt from a hardware store or a steel adjustable hose clamp? Anyone face this problem and overcome it? Thank you

see how i removed the long stud threads and placed the plate on with 2 bolts..then added a U bolt

if it is really close to fitting, I sometimes take an old wrist pin and hold it against the side of the frame and smack it with a 3lb hammer to put a small dimple there on each side for the bolts to pass thru

other times I use a u-bolt and also slide a piece of nylon tubing over the u-bolt to protect paint
