This is an old thread but I'd like to add my two cents: The hs142 with
an ezm q-matic could never win a drag race against anyone. I own
an hs 142f with the q-matic, and it is slow from stand still, because
the clutch is designed to grab slowly, or to slip, which causes power
losses on take off. I report, like others, that it fully engages at about
10 mph (my guess). So in a drag race it would be the last to finish.
It probably could attain a very high end speed with a small rear
sprocket, but take-off power would be miserable. There is a lot
of bragging about how great the q-matic is for racing, but
I don't buy it.
