This is my build thread

Starting this as my thread for my bike build. Going to post hear sporadically on how the build is going. Hopefully I can track the challenges I'm facing, the tasks I want to complete, the decisions and notes I'm making.

My Zeda80 came in the mail the other day based on @DAMIEN1307 suggestion. Did a quick unboxing and was overall pretty pleased with the quality of the engine. There are few things I noticed that I want to start addressing

1. Replace mounting studs and add loctite
2. The mounting bracket has tearout/flash on the mounting holes. I'm going to sand it down and/or replace the mounting altogether
3. The head came with tightened down but it looks like there is gaps all the way around the gasket.
4. Exhaust port could use a nice polish, its not the worst I've ever seen but its also not great
5. Reed port came with RTV all over the place. Will attempt to clean some of this up.

For anyone interested in a way to remove your studs easily use the two nut system to back out the stud from the engine block (picture included)

For the bike I decided on a old Trek Multitrack 700c hybrid bike. I like the larger wheel and steel frame. Correct or not, I tend to believe steel frames to handle vibration and engine mounting better than an aluminum frame. I'd like to get a solid axle back wheel but it's not a huge priority right now.

In case i didn't give it to you before, here is the instruction manual to build it...I don't think it comes with the kits anymore...DAMIEN

Ps...Don't hesitate to ask any questions along the way and take your time doing it, it will pay off in the end.

$108 for some hardware from McMaster, yeah that's a solid pass for me. I don't need 100 M6 and M8 bolts. Fastenal is looking promising. Any other hardware stores I should be looking at? My local Ace doesn't have a great selection of Metric hardware.

Awe, that's too bad, your Ace don't have a good selection of hardware.

The Ace by me has it all. If you can't find it they'll order it for ya. They have Isles of Drawers full with all kinds of stuff.
I often find myself just looking and trying to take a mental inventory of what they have so when I need that special gizmo that I never knew existed I'll remember that Ace has one.
