Well dont get mad! You can push the bike too. If magnet was off it should not start at all. But it could of sheared the key on magnet. With piston at TDC your magnet should be positioned in the 1:00 area.
If you got a new pencil stick it in spark plug hole & slowly rotate engine over till pencil stops moving up that will b tdc, & it might take a couple times to get it where you want it rotated.
Ok I had to go to shop & get 1 of my new engines out of stock to show you. Put pen or pencil in spark plug hole & rotate engine till piston is at tdc, or as soon as pencil stops moving up. Then your magnet keyway will be in the 1:00 position, like the red line shows on this engine.
