To paint the case or not?

Hi everyone, this is my first real attempt at giving a build a custom color scheme. I feel like it's not coming out too bad. I'm waiting on more neon cable tubes. I had sand and lightly polished the edge of the cooling fins and I'm sure the finish on the edges isn't going to last long at all. Does anyone know of any kind of clear coat that wouldn't ruin the polished aluminum look? Also, I absolutely hate painting. I'm pretty terrible at it, so this turned out pretty remarkable relative to my painting skills. What do y'all think about the case having a stock finish. I'm not sure if it's really worth taking everything apart again and painting that.

I think I would leave the cases natural and color the side covers. That way you can change or renew the color much easier. The cylinder looks great!

Thanks! Yeah the fins took quite a bit of filing and sanding to get them flat, but it did turn out better than I expected. That's what I was thinking about the case, just seems like way more work than it's worth.

That would be pretty sweet! I noticed that some of the fins were difficult to get to even with the flex shaft perfectly flat. I'm sure I will attempt this on my next cylinder so I will definitely look into that diamond cut technique. That looks really nice. But with as much work as I put into my cylinder, I'm happy with my results for now. But thanks for the tip, I had never even heard of that diamond cut technique.

Just remember a well done paint job is 90% prep and only 5%skill with a dusting of luck.
As long as you take your time to prep and mask the piece properly then even a rattle can looks nice
