Took head off Grubee G5 -- should I clean this carbon & how

I'd consider decking the cylinder as you can see in the pics there's a pretty big gap between where the rings stop and top of cylinder. That is an easy diy fix
Not sure if it is easy or not, from the couple of you tube videos I just looked at you need a few tools I do not have.

Should I just get a thinner bottom gasket or even just use some RTV red gasket.

You lower the ports and reduce timing duration when doing that. Just sand the jug( edit, sorry meant jug) gentle till perfect on a piece of glass with a sand paper taped to it, turning ever few swipes to keep it even. Just make sure the jug is bolted when measuring how much to take off. Gaskets squish and change a bit under pressure. I'd keep the ports higher for more duration, and sand the top.
