Hey all I just ported a new 48cc motor to rev to 8000 and about half an hour into running it in the piston shattered where the 2 locoating pins for the rings are but I was doing well over 7000 . I've been through over 10 motors in the last year and I'm over stuffing around with this Chinese s**t, if anyone has modded a dirt bike top end like a Ktm 50cc to fit a motorised 48cc bottom end could give me a few tips cheers

Puch ZA50 has 43.5 stud spacing which would be a close fit on your 42 spacing, and has the carb intake on the cylinder.

A tomos could work too at the same size and has a Reed valve on the intake side on that cylinder.

Both are horizontal engines so the fins aren't in the right direction, but they are iron and can take better heat, an air scoop would be good at directing air down on it at speed so it won't overheat.

Yeah, Minarelli vertical cylinder, used on a dozen different types of scooters.

Brand new cast iron and piston are about $50. Need a reed valve as well, about $30
Oh yes, have to drill out the stud holes, and make a spacer plate.

Also the exhaust comes out in the center.
Mine is mostly ready to try but I haven't yet.
