Two questions...

Well, is it a lever or a button? Accuracy is specific!
Compression release thumb lever CRTL opens the exhaust valve to release compression for starting
Compression release button valve CRBV, Button is located on the head, push button to release the compression , When engine fires it closes the button valve, button valve is spring loaded

1999-2007 WC-1 & NE-5 Whizzers with a slip clutch or an Auto Clutch have a CRTL

2008 the CVT trans and electric came out on some NER Whizzers so those had a CRBV on the head
NER without the CVT trans and electric start Had an auto clutch and a CRTL

2009 Ambassador CVT trans and electric start had the CRBV on the head, No pedals either

Whizzer CRBV spring would fail after getting hot too many times causing the valve to stay open, Failure
Aftermarket CRBV for Flat Head Harley's could be bought as replacements

I like the CRTL The head is too damn hot after riding a bit to push a CRBV anyways, Burn Yourself

Above and beyond dear Sir, well done. Carry on with the excellence.
