Say, I saw Billy Lane drill holes in the fins on the heads of a 1946 Harley Davidson while preparing the antique motorcycle for a race at the New Smyrna SpeedWay on you tube. Does this help improve engine cooling on the 2 stroke china girl motorized bicycle engine? I appreciate your insightful replies in answering this question very well. Thank you.

Simplest answer I can give. Don't do it.

The idea is to increase airflow and surface area, but you have to calculate the size of the hole vs. thickness of the fins in order to ensure you are not actually reducing cooling surface area. The effect on cooling is also arguable as the holes may not flow any air at all, or reduce airflow across the fins by creating turbulence.

Also don't even think of comparing our little China Girl motor heads with Billy Lane's Harley Davidson motor racing heads...The fins on these cheap "Chinesium" heads we have are not up to the same standards of excellence in manufacturing...They will crack on you when you drill them or alter them in almost anyway.
