Typical Easily made motor bike

regular bicycle, single speed, chain is mighty tough!!

I use it for my main drive chain on my trike. but I'm powered by a 2hp (barely) russian engine. still....on the trike....no problems pulling my large carcass around!

:cool:MrSteve, my 1.6hp friction drive pushes me almost 27mph on flat ground. thats 45lbs bike and 193lb rider. but at $421 for the kit, it's not cheap. i've heard of used weedeater motors being fitted w/BMX peg for friction drive. your friend's dad could fabricate a mount, and throttle lever&cable is less than $7.
you might get by for less than $75, including the bike.

Do you think a 3hp Briggs and Straton would be a good choice for an engine? The only thing I am worried about is it being too heavy.

if you want to stay legal, most states and provinces go with 48cc or less
bigger than that and they might classify it as a moped, and make you insure, register, and plate it

Ok thanks for that information I'll keep that in mind. But if I were going to use that do you think that would be enough power? And do you think it would be too heavy?
