Velleman DIY tachometer

Van, on the Lifan I believe the spark firing is controlled by the cam which spin at 1/2 the rate of the crank, producing spark only on the compression stroke. While a small Briggs type 4 stroke fire does fire on both compression and exhaust stroke because the spark is timed off the crankshaft flywheel and does not care at which it fires.

Look into the ENM PT14
It rules...
All in one, it reads 2 stroke, 4 stroke, and something else too (but I forget)
It's also an hour meter.
Tiny tach just does 2 stroke OR 4 stroke.

1 sec refresh I think, but the 2 and 4 stroke all in one makes it worth it.
$$$$ around $36ish...
