Vintage Schwinn!!

Hello Family, always wanted to get into motorized bikes so I bought an all black Schwinn beach cruiser for my first build. Currently working on that one now. So then being the impatient person I am I wanted to buy one with a motor already installed. So I came across this vintage Schwinn. Dont know much about it, has a different Schwinn badge that I've seen, the rear spokes are larger than the front and has a license plate. Not sure if its 50cc or 80cc how can you tell? Runs and drives but doesn't idle. If you hold in clutch the motor revs high, of you go too slow engine bogs down a shuts off. Also see lots of fuel bubbling in the fuel filter. Any tips on the first things to do on an old moterized when you get a nice old one? Check out pictures let me know what you think.

Welcome to the forum! Motorized bikes are super fun. You can tell the actual size of the engine by measuring the bore I believe. Never done it before, but read how to do it. First thing I would do is replace the fuel line and filter, and clean the carb/jet. Also in my opinion that chain has to much slack in it. So adjust the tensioner.

Awesome, did new fuel line and filter today, need to clean carb next. Thanks for the welcome!!

The carb is super easy to clean and rebuild. While you have it apart check the jet make sure it's not plugged. Mine was after sitting for a few months. Just ran a needle through it and cleaned it out. Then it was finally shooting gas into the cylinder. Also make sure the float is at 21mm.

Look in side the fuel tank for rust or dirt. the only way to tell if it's a 50 or 80 is by measuring the bore.
