Curious about people’s experience with a warranty claim from Bicycle-Engines.com??
About 2 months ago, I purchased a brand new Phantom 85 engine kit from Bicycle-Engines.com, paid the extra $40 for the Top End install.
I was aware of the front mounting hardware, U-bolt & flat plate, for these kits. So I purchased an improved CNC motor mount for the front, from a different website.
I have not abused, miss rode, over heated, or anything else, since after following all instructions, installed engine kit in my bike. All of a sudden, while out for a ride, my motor dies and refuses to start. I go through the “what went wrong” basics, gas? Check, spark? Check, getting gas? Check, yada-yada. Well, I take my exhaust off to make sure of proper air flow, I shine my flashlight into exhaust port on my motor and… that’s when I see what my problem is, drop my head and sigh, there are gouges and scratches I can see on front of the piston. I’m not going anywhere, at least not on this bike today.
The question I wanted to ask, does anyone know if my using a different motor mount will cause them to void my warranty for work they had done?
My guess is whoever did the top end assembly skipped a step and did not check for any burrs or any other possible issues from the casting of the cylinder like one is supposed to.
Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. I believe they should most definitely be willing to send me a new top end replacement for sure.
