In the picture, which is correct?
A flat washer against the bolt head and then a lock washer?
Or a lock washer against the bolt head and then a flat washer?

These are for mounting the engine to the mounting plate.

I believe the setup on the right is right, that's how I've always seen it done and how I do it.

unless the hole is much larger than the bolt, I avoid the flat washer and use only the lock washer - on rag joint bolts, I use the flat washer under bolt head on outside and lock washer under nut on inside

NOTE: this does not apply to head studs where several washers might be needed to keep acorn nuts from bottoming out

I didn't use any washers at all when bolting the steel plate to the front engine mount holes. Just blue loctite.
Maybe that's just me but it's also how my disc brake rotors are held onto my hubs, and it makes sense to me. :)

The right side is correct but the lockwashers that usually come with the kit lose their springiness pretty quickly making them basically pointless...
