Engine Trouble Wasted Weekend

No paint anywhere. If new CDI doesn't solve my No Run condition, I'll remove the magneto magnet and do a test for the crankshaft seal and general overall compression. Everything looks good.

It could be that the CDI is just a bit too weak to bring adequate spark fire. Hope that's it!

Seals are rather easy and are done without removing engine just magnet and small pinion.

Yes I've had it happen, actually had that same pop too while riding in the rain, fried the CDI pretty good, only a new one fixed it.

It was the CDI all along, just as the multimeter test showed. The new CDI reads 8k ohms, where the others were showing 5k to 6k. I guess there's good reason why these old CDIs are in my garage.

So now I have a clean carb, new head (milled smooth by sandpaper on glass!), new head gasket, and a new piece of tubing as my extended intake. Smooth.

New project: Jag Pipe!

Other project: full suspension cafe racer frame!
