What are drive differences?

Hi, I'm a retiree in Chiangmai, Thailand and haven't yet seen a gasoline bicycle around. Lots of motorcycles. A few shops showing electric bicycles but almost none on the road.

I'm a novice and would like to get a gasoline bicycle. First, what are the comparative advantages/disadvantages about chain drives, friction drives, belt drives and others?
