The 80cc engines are water cooled and not air cooled, correct? Is this why people say not to use marine oil because that is for air cooled engines? Or is it the other way around

I understand what your asking

2 stroke water cooled engines use an oil that's formulated for cooler operating temperatures
2 stroke air cooled engines use an oil that's formulated for hotter operating temperatures

If ya ever had an air cooled 2 stroke engine failure while using Marine oil
I bet you'll never use it again in your air cooled 2 stroke

I used valvoline marine in my sears kit and the cylinder was clean after 2 years of use.

Protects against rust, removes water and kept that sleeve sparkling. Little smoky on a 25:1

Learned something new, marine and air cooled 2 stroke oil. Never owned a boat.
